The Government has set aside some money for schools to allocate to young people who need financial support to stay on in further education or training. This is called the 16-19 Bursary Fund.
It could help you with any education related costs that may arise during the school year, including essentials like a meal during the day or transport to your school. Or, you might need extra help to buy additional books, clothing or equipment for your course, or pay for educational visits.
You can apply for a discretionary bursary if you require financial help to stay on in school but you do not qualify for a vulnerable bursary. You must apply for a discretionary bursary using the form obtainable from the Student Support Administrator (Mrs A South) located in the 6th form student study area. (Details for eligibility for a Vulnerable bursary are in the document below).
Bursaries are awarded at the schools discretion based on individual circumstances. The school will decide whether or not an award is to be made, how much the award is for and what it can be spent on.
